Nintendo need to fire their publicists. There. I said it.
Their ads consist of only showing Mario games, children playing on a sofa, old people on balance boards and that one lonely adult man playing a Kirby game on his own (no judgements passed by me, but by no means is it an attractive image to portray to get the ‘bro-gamers’).
Don’t even get me started on their presentations which are all so boring. Just a guy talking at his desk, reading off of cue cards being held by someone behind the camera. The usual. Or a sweaty Reggie being sweaty and awkward. (nothing wrong with being sweaty or awkward but still, not the image if you want ‘real-man-gamers’ to buy your console)
They keep saying they want the hardcore gamers back but some people don’t even know that you can play the one and only C.O.D (the hardcore anthem game for all the bro-gamers) on there too. They also don’t ever advertise the other things that the Wii U can do.
Calling it the Wii U and making the console look almost exactly like the Wii also confuses the average consumer. Do you know how many people think that the Wii U is only the tablet controller that you sync to your Wii!? LOADS! Why is this? Because of bad ads, confusing campaigns and lacklustre hardware design.
The usual awkward bumbling publicity that is Nintendo.
Drives me crazy because the Wii U is pretty brilliant! As usual Nintendo creates a console that is for the type of person who enjoys great consistent game play.
What also frustrates me is this console war rubbish because the Wii U (and Nintendo in general) has always been the console on the side. It doesn’t compete in the PS4 vs XBONE war because it can’t. It’s like comparing apples to oranges. Im always so tired of the fanboy-ism that rages rampant in the gaming community. All consoles are good for different reasons. Lots of people have more than one console and enjoy a variety of games, game styles, genres, graphics and so on.
Not all of us play only the many iterations of C.O.D or Fifa (as fun as those games are).
